  1. I am using three drives for the multisegment capture in virtual dub. I set them to a 50 mb thresh hold and i set so it will not create avis bigger than 1500 mb, however after about 1000 mb have been created it stops and gives me the disk cleanup dialog. why isnt virtual dub splitting the files between the drives?

  2. Did you also check the menu item that says "Multisegment capture" on the Capture menu? It has to be checked in addition to configuring the drives. And, it tends to uncheck itself!

VirtualDub does not give you a disk cleanup error, its Windows that does that when your drive is getting full. If VirtualDub was not going on to the next segment, you would get an AVI Write error.

Free up some space on your spill drive so Windows doesnt prompt you to clean off some space.

  4. i do check the Enable Multisegment capture option before capturing, and the drive has 2.5 gigs free, so i dont undxerstand why i get the error message from windows when the file is only 1 gig

also, i have virtual dub set up so that it spills on three drives d, e, and f, after i get the error message it stops capturing of course, but when i check the files there are two files created in f:, one is about 1 gig, and the other is 100 mb, in e: there are no files created, and in d: there is a 12 k file created, is this normal?

  5. Your best bet here is to disable the auto cleanup on the capture drives. If you start up the actual windows disk cleanup app it allows you to do this.

I do this as standard on capture drives.
