    Have just download a mpeg file, I can only look at it with Flaskmpeg, but i need to convert it with virtaldub.. but it seems virtaldub wont open the mpeg file, can some one give me a hint how i can solve this problem!

    Have you tried demuxing it in TMPGEnc.

    Is it an mpeg1(vcd) file or mpeg2(svcd)

    Vdub will open any movie, provided you have the correct codec's installed. Try installing the Nimo codec pack to see if that helps.
