Ok.. I am sorry if this the answer to this question is stated anywhere else, I'm sure it is.. but I cannot find it for the life of me..!
Can you convert DVD to MPG even if you don't have a DVD-rom on your computer??
I tried this some time ago, and my pc could not read the DVD. Is it possible to convert if you do not have a DVD-rom on your pc?!?
I would appreciate any info given.. i've been curious about this for the longest time!!

Simple answer - No.
To convert you need to read the VOB files from the DVD and then start the conversion. On a PC somewhere you need a DVD-ROM to get these files. You cound send the VOB files from a PC withe a DVD ROM to another without, but these VOB file are very large (1+ Gigabytes)
