  1. hey. anyone know what software i coulde use to resample the bit rate on a dvd rip that i am doing.

    it's over 6 GB and i need it to fit a 4.7 GB dvd-r.

i know you can do it but i don't know where to find the software to do it. i would prefer it to be for OS 9.2.2, but i can tolerate it if it is for OS X.

also, anyone know where i can find a bitrate calculator for mac?

    BYW

dvdsp works great for burning dvd copies.
    anyone want a guide?
    i have one in progress

  3. I originally typed "try those 'how to' links on the left", but then I noticed you are a Mac guy.

Best of luck, hopefully someone will be here soon.
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."

  4. Use macMpeg2Decoder 1.0b8 to convert .m2v to .mov with some quality codec (eg JPEG) and adjust black bars as needed for true 16:9 aspect ratio. Then export .mov as .mpeg2 by using the mpeg2-encoder quicktime plugin which comes with DVDSP (need a G4). Just select a little lower bitrate ie 4MBps. Open the resulting .m2v with DVDSP, add the audio track, build and format.

do u mean just backing up an oversized dvd? well if u do, heres a good tutorial that lists the programs and steps:
    http://www.macdvd.org/ubb/Forum1/HTML/000079.html
if you cant find these programs for this anywhere on the net, which u should be able to, let me know which ones and ill post links or email them.
as for a bitrate calclator, check this link:
    http://homepage.mac.com/thomber/FileSharing1.html
this is a pretty good one.
and what exactly do u mean by the DVDSP burning copies? well anyways, hope these things help u, if these are the things u are actually trying to do!
