  1. I'm joining together some avi segments in virtualdub. The clips seem to have been cut cleanly, because I don't see any repeats or dropped frames. But when playing, as soon as it hits the keyframe that starts the next clip, the audio skips (goes flat) for that split second. Any ideas where this came from? I assume it must be a glitch in the audio from where it was cut. If there's anything that could help fix it, let me know. Thanks.

Sounds like it was not cut at keyframes.

Try loading the first AVI, move to the end, and mark it as end, then click back 1 keyframe and mark it as start, then delete. It might not have been cut at a keyframe.

Part 2 might not have been cut at a keyframe either, so it may need the start cutting at a keyframe.

If the output is going to be a VCD, just encode them both with TMPGENC, the mpeg join with merge/cut might be OK
