  1. I have had this problem and I don't think it's iMovie. It usually happens when there's a lot of movement on a very 'busy' picture, e.g. looking at the speckles of light of the sky through the leaves/branches of a tree, and panning at the same time. It is very rare even in this circumstance but it does happen. The video playback suddenly slows and goes very blocky but the sound continues as normal. I have found that If I pause the DVD player (a Toshiba SD210E) then set it playing again, it recovers. This is why I don't think iMovie is the problem. The clue was that it behaved slightly differently each time it was played. I wonder if the DVD hardware gets overloaded with the screen data?

    Tim.

I think I've isolated the problem. The VCD itself is playable on a variety of DVD players. On my particular model (Apex 600), there's not enough buffer memory to read home-rolled VCDs. That's why the audio and video go out of sync.

  3. Hi there. I found this out today when I visited a friend who had an
Apex player and I noticed the same issue. I'll re-burn the disc and
watch what happens when I play it on my Onkyo DV-S535 which is
super picky as far as media goes and will report back. I suspect
the Apex might be the issue, since I didn't notice this on another
standalone DVD player and also on two different Macs. Anyway,
    stand by!
