No Input Audio Stream To Extract

that is the message that I got while trying to extract the audio from a downloaded avi clip that I am working with. What should I do? This is the second time that I have gotten a message like this. I hope that it doesn't meant that the file is bogus. Someone out there give me a hand. Appreciate it!

Not every file has sound....
When you play the avi file do you have sound??
When you goto windows explorer > right click on file > select properties> select details....what does it say??
Also what program are you using to attempt to extract the audio??

I am using vdub to extract the audio. But when I try to open the video with wlndows media player, it opens but there isn't anything to see. also under file info in vdub, there is notthing. so did I get got? This file is supposed to be a movie. Now, I know all files don't have sound, but all movies do, right? If there is anything else that I can do to see what is going on with this file, please tellme.

Well if you can't open it with anything....and I'll assume you have all the codecs...and the smr patch ....if not make sure you do....they are all in tools section here.

After that I would definately feel the file may be corupt or "broken" try one of the avi or divx fixers in the tools section.

If that dont work ...tell me the name of the file and where you got it from(email me if you want) ...And I'll see if I can find it and make it straighten out

DON'T install SMR (Angel Potion) its not needed and gives nothing but problems.

If you have all the codec's installed (Nimo codec pack) it sounds like you have one missing, the Fake codec for "Fake Movies" Next time copy the .dat file after you have a few MB of download, into a temp folder, and open with TMPGENC (Rename .dat to .AVI or .mpg) to "Preview" the start, if after it loads and shows Nothing in the audio then its a fake anyway, and you wont be able to preview.

If the preview shows the first few frames as nothing that looks like the move, cancel the download.

Better to use verified downloads with sig2dat they are "Guaranteed"

King John! E$xcellent advice. I am definatley going to start checking files before spending so much time and anxiety downloading garbage! And what is it that is fucked up about SMR patch? I have heard a few bad things about it, I don't have it installed, but what exactly is it for and what are the problems that it causes?

Well take a look on the Vdub website, Help or FAQ it will give the info on SMR.

You don't use Sig2dat ?? gosh you have not lived then

OK, you have a movie on your hard drive in your Kazaa shared folder, now all you do is run Sig2dat and tell it to open that movie, it then gives you a unique file ID, a code for that movie. That unique ID does not exist anywhere else in any other file.

Now that you have that ID, you can give it to someone else, when they click on a special link, it is automatically added to your Kazaa download and provided your online, it will start to download.

Now I have it and I give the ID to someone else, when they click the special link (Or paste into Sig2dat) it is added to the download of there're Kazaa, but now its starts to download from you and me...

Lets say I downloaded something, a movie someone says its "Scooby Boo" when I get it, it turns out to be something completely different or a fake, so I just delete it.

But if it turns out to be genuine, I can now use Sig2dat to make an unique ID, and tell everyone that I have verified this movie and here is the ID

Already there are sites popping up all over the place called "verified movies" because these sites DO NOT give links to illegal copies of movies, they are perfectly legal, but they do provide the Unique ID's of all the popular movies, so all you need do is check the lists, and click away to have them all added automatically to your Kazaa downloads

No more searching, no more downloading fakes, what more can you want ?

Sounds wonderful, because I am sick and tired of getting all worked up about downloading a movie and getting it before everyone else just to get fucked! sometimes I wish that I knew that persons number so that I could call them up and give them hell! (You wouldn't believe how many times I have gone through this with Minority Report!) I am definatley going to download sig2dat today! Thanks for all your advice.
