Nero doesn't rip anything, it's a writing app. Click the following link to learn more about Nero::

To see how to rip, look to your left and click that "How to...DVD rip" link.As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war." -
so the speed of riping a DVD is depending on how fast your DVD - ROM is?

DVD-ROM speed is one factor yes, but there are other factors. Your interface, mode/DMA setting, cpu speed and harddrive speed can also effect your overall ripping speed. Remember, you're not just 'reading' the DVD, you're also moving/writing the data as well as decrypting it.

It's also worth noting that some DVD-ROM drives rip faster than others, even if both say 16x on the box. Searching the forums would have yielded you this thread :

, in which you'll find recommendations for a DVD-ROM that rips fast.
