  1. Well, First of all sorry about my english. Also newbie here.
I'm having problems with my cd burner (tdk 16/10/40x), but I don't know if it is a software problem or hardware.
I downloaded some videos (movies) in DivX format (.avi) and followed the tutorial to convert to vcd (mpeg-1 layer 2) with the VirtualDub and TMPGEnc; the first movie went just fine, and played in my dvd (Apex). But... when I tried to convert the second movie (avi to mpg) I had to install the Nimo Codec Pack, it was converted and went just fine, but when burned the VCD with Nero (as the 1st one), this time the cd came up as .cda! (2 tracks), wich it does not play even my stereo or cd rom as music, nothing! Then I made a copy of the first movie (the good one) and the copy also came up as 2 .cda tracks!
does any body knows what could be wrong?! was it because the Nimo codec? Also when I play the original dowloaded .avi files in my Windows Media Player, it doesn't display any video, only sound. But when I open it with Virtual Dub or TMPEGnc it does display the video.
Did I mess with my computer? or could be my cd burner itself?
    Reinstall windows?!
Please. Any advise I would appreciate very much.
    Thank you.
    Zkorpio.

Ok, so you download the DivX movie in 2 parts, first you need to load each one into Vdub and scan for bad frames, if it finds any you need to save out another copy of the AVI using streaming.

Video > Scan Video stream for errors
    Video > Direct steam copy
    Audio > Direct stream copy
    SAVE AS

Now that your sure the AVI is free of any bad frames you can load into TMPGEnc, then "Load" a VCD template to set it up for a fully compliant VCD

Now that you have made a "Fully compliant" VCD mpeg, you can use it in Nero, if you had changed anything and Nero had to re-encode, this can mess things up.

If you have problems in viewing either the AVI or mpeg, try re-installing Windows Media player from Microsoft update. The Nimo codec pack should have given you all the codec's you needed.
