Which particular guide did you use? What region do you want to convert?Generally the procedures are the same unless the the format is NTSC(film). Region 2 is almost always progressive rather than interlaced. The important thing is to choose the VCD template which fits the framerate of the original.

As to copying VCD I always use CDRWin's *backup disc* option. Nero's disc image option should also be OK.

  3. thank you for the info on copying. i was using the newbie dvd to vcd guide by sefy. the disc was the jungle book but samrtripper wasn't identifying it and i couldn't figure out what region it was. is there an opion on vcdeasy to copy a vcd? i don't have new or cdrwin yet. or is there an inexpensive place to buy either nero or cdrwin? nero seems pretty expensive. thanks again.

Some DVD drives are locked to a particular region - maybe this is the problem? Smartripper is unlikely to be the problem.

As to Nero and CDRWin, if you look around both can be obtained for next to nothing. 8) However, CDRWin will write at 1X even in evaluation mode, if I remember correctly.

  5. Which DVD Drive do you have ? as mentioned before me, your drive might have gotten locked and won't let you access some regions anymore, let me know which drive you have in email, and i'll send you a firmware for it if has one.
