Try Virtual Dub ver. 1.3 OR Graphedit. There is an excellent guide on
here from a user named kenetik on using Graphedit. Just do a search
for author - kenetik and this may help you out.

    Goodluck

  3. Best way of encoding I have found is to use TMPGEnc. Just open the wmv file by using file open in TMPGEnc and selecting all files option. You can then select the WMV file and it will encode the file to (S)VCD with generally no problems.

I had tried this with my ever so troublesome asf file but the est. time
would increase till the encoding session eventually locked up. I had to
use Windows Media Encoder to re-encode it so that GraphEdit would
not crap out on me near the middle of the process.

I would try GraphEdit first as this would give you a workable file. If it
craps out then re-encode with Windows Media Encoder, then GraphEdit.

After that you can convert it to avi with VirtaulDub and then from there
I can't help as this is where I am at in the process. Actually, I am at
the point of "PULLING MY HAIR OUT" due to video/audio sync
problems. But, I am patient and if any one of the ideas I am following
    works then I will:
    A) Know what to do if this happens again
    B) Help others with similar problems.
