Hello,

I'm not quite sure where this went.. so I'm just posting here..

My problem is this..
I don't own a DVD player.. but I do have a DVD-ROM drive, so I wanted to make some VCD's for myself from DVD's, so I could play them on my NAPA Dav311, and computer.. my success was patchy.

I managed to do two DVD's quite niclely with DVDx 2.0, and that was that.. but then I got to another DVD, and.. oh my.
I tried to do it on DVDx 2.0, and my sucess was.. limited.. it kept on stopping and there was errors, so then I picked the 'open mpeg' choice.. and it just sent me on a wild goose chace and only had 1 hour and a half of the movie encoded, I checked out LabDV's fourms and found out that error happends some times, and I need not worry about it, because not every dvd will work with DVDx, SO.. then I tried Smartripper.. and it ripped the movie within a half hour, and I tired to open it up with DVDx 2.0, same problem. Then I tried FlaskMpeg.. no worky. I tried DVD2AVI.. still nothing, I even followd the nice guides you have here on this site, THEN.. I tried Xmpeg.. I tried to open the vobs on the DVD.. nadda..

Earilyer that day, I played to DVD.. just to watch it.. and it was perfect. After this long day of trying everything, I wanted just to watch it again.. so I popped it in and double clicked WinDVD, after a bit of wirring WinDVD crashed.. I tried it again.. crash!, restarted.. crashed again..
So I went ahead and opened up Windows Media player.. after some whirring it said something about copy protection.. I can't exactly remember, and it started to play.. and play it did.. only that it stuttred and had awful sound.

Now.. I'm worried here.. I'd love to copy this DVD, but other things are on my mind now.. being..
Did I ruin my DVD? Or did I ruin my DVD-ROM drive? or is it something else entirely? I Wish I had a DVD to test my theory on, Because I lent my the few DVD's I had to a friend and he just went on a weekend trip. I tested some VCD's I made in the last few days.. they seem to work fine.

Can someone help??

Thanks if someone has got the awnser.
