I am interested in purchasing a new quality analog capture board (around $500). I already own a fast AVmaster 2000 MJPEG card. The AVmaster is a great board. I run it on a P2-266mhz at 5MB/s 640x480x24b, 44mhz 16 bit stereo audio - never drops frames and always perfect sync. I was looking for something that could give me improved image quality - blue and red objects tend to lack definition and look a little murky with the AVM. It also creates files with a hardware codec which doesn't allow you to edit on other machines. I want to be able to capture at dvd resolution 720x480 with 48khz audio for my dvd-r. Essentially, I'm looking for a capture card (under $500). that will create pro-looking dvd's. Maybe something with a capture datarate over 5MB/s. I'm looking at the canopus advc-100 and the canopus advc-1394. I'd like to know what their datarates are. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
