Changing SVCD header

My friends DVD player only plays VCDs, not SVCDs, so I said I'd change the header for him. I read about this a day or two ago, where you trick the DVD player into thinking the SVCD is a VCD, but I can't find the link again. I've searched everywhere for it. Any chance somebody could tell me how to do it? Thanks

I also have problems using this trick. After converting with tmpgenc I use Nero 5.5.8 for burning the Rom. I tried to use the mode2 option and compacting the 800 MB file to 700 MB by burning in vcd mode. This didn't work. Overbun mode wit 90 min gives errors at 96% and shuts down the session

My Onkyo DR 2.0 plays real SVCDs only with problems. After several stop, play and turn off actions it runs the film.

Does anyone have a tip.
