I’m looking to replace my Matrox Marvel with a new analogue capture device.
I primarily make VCD/SVCD’s and currently capture using full resolution with Matrox then frameserve from Vdub to TMPGEnc to create compliant mpeg.
I am finding the time taken to encode too restrictive (AMD T’Bird 1GHz) upgrading the PC isn’t an option, hence a capture device change.
I am considering the Dazzle II. Any other recommendations?
Can anyone advise what the capture quality is like when compared to the Matrox both wrt max res avi & re-encoding like at present, and also the quality of directly capturing to MPEG-2 compliant file to burn direct to CD?
Most of the time I’d like to capture direct, but if top quality is required I will be happy to occasionally re-encode from max reolution for “special” jobs.
FYI, replacing the Matrox is req’d as it is getting on a bit & I’d like also a better quality primary video card
Thanks for any help
Nezza
