  1. (I hope this is the correct forum to post this)

I have converted a .avi file to a mpeg using TMPGenc, but my mpeg is converting without sound. The original .avi has sound but the converted mpeg doesn't. I have downloaded every codec known to man (Nimo, Divx 3.11, 4 &5). I have WinDVD software on my CPU and I still can't get any audio. I have even burned the soundless mpg with NERO 5.5 to a SVCD disk hoping the audio would play on my DVD player even though it wouldn't on my CPU. My only assumption is that i'm not setting TMPGenc correctly. Any help to get audio on my conversions would be appreciated.

  3. Yeah, I selected both Audio and Video.

I've continued playing around with the avi file with no luck.

I opened the avi file in vdub and under the audio tab selected avi audio and full processing. Also under the audio tab I selected conversion (The sound is defaulted to 48000Hz, 8 bit precision and stereo channels). When I go to file and select save wav I get the following message.

The requested audio compression is not compatible with the input format. Check that the sampling rate and channel count match those of the requested format.

I tried changing the 48000hz to 441000hz but I get the same error.

I had problems with no sound on this avi file when I first downloaded it, but I installed the Nimo pack and finally got sound working so, I thought the nimo pack would do the same for my TPMGenc converted mpg file.

Any thoughts on the matter would be appreciated.

  4. My guess is that the AVI file is a DivX file. You would need to extract the Audio as a seperate *.wav file, and set the Audio Source in tmpegenc to the wav file you created...

If it is a DivX file, check this out:

    Good luck.
