Okay, you got me. I am a newbie. I was trying to follow the "DVD backup without having 8GB free" document by Dhruv Bhatia.
Downloaded and installed TMPGEnc, VFAPI plug-in, and DVDx.
Set up DVDx output settings as Video Server (it has Video Server twice under the selections "Premiere Plugin Encoder" box. Does that mean I may have more than one plugin installed - causing problems?). Under Video Server Settings, I am using "connect to AVISynth" and gave the .avs filename. Click on encode.
After this, I open TMPGEnc and set the .avs file as the video source and give the .mpg output file name. Load a VCD template and click start.
I get the following error:
Script Error: There is no function named "IPCSource"
(C:\temp\majestic_2\The_majestic.avs,line1)
Please help me out in simple terms - I'm stupid......
-----------------------------------------------------------------
I would appreciate it if ANYONE could help me out or tell me of a better way to do it.
Also, FYI, i opened the "the_majestic.avs" file in a txt editor and it contained the following text:
--------------------------------------
IPCSource("the majestic.mpg")
resampleaudio(44100)
--------------------------------------
Please help me out!

Script Error: There is no function named "IPCSource" = your
video server ain't working. You may have failed to name
the save file correctly under DVDx, or your video server
plugin needs to be removed and correctly re-installed.
DVDx since v2 is causing many
people problems (sound issues mainly) so I'd strongly suggest you
try another guide, perhaps one using avisynth and CCE ?
luck! -
thanx much.
I will try removing the plugin and re-installing first....was rumored to have been said by Twezel -
Actually this is more likely to solve your problem:
(cut from the newbie section of the guides)
Some common TMPGEnc problems:
If you get an error message when opening the video or audio like file unsupported...(sico) try to change the codec reader settings in TMPGEnc under Option->Environmental settings->VFAPI plug-in and right click on the DirectShow Multimedia File Reader and increase the priority to 1 or 2 and try open the video. -
will that matter since I have it unselected like the guide recommends?
