  1. Ok I asked this questions a few time at different places and I know I am not the only one wondering about itbut any answer or guidance would be appreciated. I download a movie...it's good no problems with it. I encode it with tempgenc and virtual dub for sound. It plays well on my computer but once burned and playing on my dvd player who accepts cd-r cd-rw vcd and dvd after 10 minutes or so it starts to have sinc problem (slow images or too fast and sound sync problems.) This happens throughout the movie at different intervals. I got the new tempgenc because I was told it may solve the problem but it still does it. I changed a few times my cd's in case that was the problem but it does it with all of them. I tried burning at a slower speed but it still does it. BTW I am basically following the guides onthis sites. ANY idea on how to solve this? Is it my bitrate (how to change it is still not clear to me) or what can I do to improve this?

  3. sounds like you're not making fully compliant VCDs or SVCDs (you didn't specify which). are you using the templates that come with TMPGenc?

Do you have a VIA chipset? Chances are, that's your problem. I just made a post about a similar issue, but no one could offer advice that fixed the audio synchronisation.

I tried everything. NOTHING fixed the problem, until I installed a patch, which is available on Ulead's website. Look for the audio sync patch, for Ulead VideoStudio 4.01. It's a small file and it fixes some kind of bug that's related to the VIA chipset. Even if you have the latest drivers and sp2 (win2k), you still will need to install this patch.

  5. I dont really know if I have a VIA.... I normally try to make vcd following the guides here. Ill try that patch to see if this could be my problem though.

I had the same problem with TMPGEnc 12a and also in some instances with 2.5XX.

I solved my problem with Audio Sync by demuxing after encoding with TMPGEnc and then remuxing with bbmpg and then burning in nero. I know its a pain splitting the Audio and Video and then putting it back together again, but at least all my SVCD are in since in all the DVD players I have tried so far.

    I hope it helps.

    Best Regards

Ulead doesn't do freeware, 30-day trials are as good as it gets there. At any rate, it costs nothing to try it for a month.
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."
