  1. Hi everybody, I have a problem.
I want to add a subtitle to a Divx movie and then convert it to SVCD. But there is a problem, when I get to the point that I have to frameserve it, it freeze. Nothing happens, and I did all the things that VCDhelp "tells" me to do (also proxy on, etc.), but it still won't work.

Does anyone knows what's going wrong?

    Please help me!

    Thanx!

  4. I do not know if this will fix your problem, BUT theese things had help when I have problems with VirtualDub as frameserver to TMPGEnc.

    - Rename Your DivX file to approx 5-10 char.
    - Save your *.vdr file (the file from VirtualDub) on the same drive that you save your final MPG-file in TMPEnc.

(I know that this "sounds" crazy, but when I have problems i Works for me ! )

Why should this help? When you frameserve the divx with subtitle, then there is not yet a MPEG-file. Why should I save it to that directory? Ok, I will try it.

When I have done that, must I follow the normal procedure with TMPEG to convert the AVI to SVCD? *.vdr, is that the same as AVI?

Have you done this the same way I did?

    Thanx!

  6. Sorry.. you are right. (I have tried so many things that I can not remember)

I saved the *.vdr to the same Drive as the DivX, Sorry.

But i know all this should NOT matter, but I did (sometimes) had problems. TMPEnc did a Error when I tried to load the *.vdr file, or it just stop responding.

So I tried everthing, and last I renamed the DivX file (sometimes the Filenames are Very long) and "vupty" it worked.

  7. The frameserving (in virtualdub), does that immediately start when you click OK?

I hope it will work now!

  8. ive had a similar problem with brothrhood of the wolf
when you open the file you want to frameserve in vdub does it come up with a warning about the sound if it does this is what causes the prob in tmpgenc to get round it
you need to save the avi files sound as wav
save the avi itself as an avi file with NO SOUND use whatever divx code you want it to be
you should be able to go through the frameserve process using the file with no sound and should have no probs with tmpgenc

the easiest way to see if this is the problem is to only save a few minutes of it with no sound and try it if it works your laughing if it dont youve not wasted 3hrs re-encode a file
