  1. not exactly playing problem but still.. by some really weird reason, i can't delete divx and avi files from my computer! :O it always says that some other process is using the file.. could it be some codec that causes something like this?

problem started after i installed eDonkey. i thought first that it's because of that. but then i came to realize that the problem is only with divx avi files..

is there a program that i could see what processes, programs, are using the file? i tried to search, but nothing.. plz help..

    thanks!!

  2. eDonkey? Is that the spyware-free version, or the one that installs the dreaded GATOR malware? (whether you opt out or not):

  5. I have had this problem B4. Really strange, I thought it was a bug in Windows XP The only thing that worked here was to use Norton Utilities and remove it, you could also try DOS tho

we'll the answer is quite simple when u click on the icon windows creates a thumbnail thus the file is being used and can't be deleted.

  9. Avi files (divx) can be trouble in xp. there is a fix to let xp behave much better so it's possible to move or delete large avi files. The obnoxious bug in XP that causes Explorer to read the entire contents of broken AVI files before allowing any access to them is caused by bad behavior of shmedia.dll.

To correct this misbehavior in Windows XP, remove the following
    registry key.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{87D62D9 4-71B3-4b9a-9489-5FE6850DC73E}\InProcServer32

This will prevent Explorer from loading shmedia.dll in response to file property queries on these files.
