  1. I ripped a DVD using SmartRipper and used GKnot to encode it and all, and when it was done I had an AVI file with no sound. The log said that there was an error putting the audio in with the video and that I could do it later. I'm assuming that the .AC3 file contains the audio that I need, but I would like to know how I would append an audio file to an AVI.

Any help on the subject would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

  2. depends if you want to keep the .ac3 or not in the avi/divx file

    if not (simple way)

<<----- tools on the left, download azid
open a command window and type azid filename.ac3 filename.wav
    when that is done
    open virtualdub www.virtualdub.org
open avi in virtualdub, select menu: VIDEO/DIRECT STREAM
select menu: AUDIO/WAV AUDIO and point it to your .WAV file

select preview (play1 button) to see if the audio is in sync

    if it is,

select menu: AUDIO/FULL PROCESSING then set your compression (mp3) and bitrate and if you downsample from 48->44 select that in menu: AUDIO/CONVERSION. Personally I wouldn't bother as 48 is OK.

now encode the video (audio actually)

if your audio is not in sync, look in the menu: AUDIO/INTERLEAVING and select a delay time for the audio to start at.

if you need the audio to start sooner, try -300 in the audio skew box and work your way up or down with the preview button. same if you need the audio to start later, just don't put a - in the number.

OK if you want to keep the ac3.. welp gotta ask someone else :P sorry. I have only downloaded them, I have never needed to make one yet.
