  1. I have had a read through some of the postings, and couldn't quite get it straight. This advice is for my Dad who has purchased Studio DV plus. he is downloading his home videos, editing them, and then wants to store them so he can view them on his DVD. I have purchased an LG CD-R with DVD capability and we have had a go at burning our first movie. I saved the file as a VideoCD MPeg from Studio and then used the EASICD to store it as a VCD on the CD. The result - bloody awful. The content was a car race - and admitedly he had forgotten to put the anti wobble on the camcorder. But the blockiness on the resulting VCD is really really bad.

He has the option of returning the CD and buying a DVD -R, so my question are : considering using Pinnacle Studio to edit the video.

    - What format to get Studio to output to?
    - What format to save to DVD? SVCD ? VCD
    - What application to use to do this convert?
    - Should he consider getting a DVD instead?
    - Is there anything else he needs?

He is capturing video using the DV card supplied.

    Regards

  2. SVCD will yield a better picture, but playability remains an issue. Not all DVD players will playback SVCD. If you are willing to spend the money, DVD is ultimately the way to go.

You might consider the recently announced, but not yet available Pinnacle Studio 8. It is an all in one capture, edit, and make disk solution. As a Studio DV plus user, your dad is likely entitled to an upgrade at a reduced price.

    cheers!
