  1. I have tried severaltime to convert Mpeg files to Divx, but all I get is usually a Larger File, not a smaller one. I have tried several of the guides on this web page to no avail. HELP!!!! TIA

No disrespect to this site as it has its place but www.doom9.org is the place for Divx conversion. I use dvd2avi (1.86) and xmpeg 4.5 (xmpeg is faster slightly but dvd2avi reads everything) to convert from mpeg2 to divx at either 1250 bps or 1800 bps (60 or 45 min a cd) 2 pass vbr. Its all in the yuv colorspace so faster than avi 2 mpeg conversion. Follow the guides from doom9.org to the letter and you'll get great results. The results from Divx 5.02 and the latest Xvid builds are fantastic.
