I have had a 50% success rate at converting AVI to MPG, but the problem I am running into is that it will cut encoding when it is almost done with maybe 10-20% left to go. What happens is it just shuts TMEPgenc down, I mean close off the program and that's it no way around encoding the last 10-20%. Any suggestions? Oh and I am using v.2.53 with Pinoy2201 Vcd template.

Are you cutting the AVI file with Virtual Dub first before encoding? When I tried that, I ran into the same problem in TMPGenc.

I used virtualdub to convert the sound to a wav file and then convert to mpeg using TMEPgenc with the video coming from original source and the sound coming from the wav file I created.

How about splitting the avi into 2 parts with Virtual Dub (ver1.3). I have just
had a similar experience today. The avi was about 1.4 gig. When
I was compressing it with the Divx5 codec it would get about 3/4 done
then crap out (error msg). I split the file into 2 parts and tried to
compress them. Part one went fine but part 2 crapped out at the same spot.
I then used the "Direct Stream" method from Virtual Dub (ver1.3) to
compress part 2 again and it worked.
I have since ripped the wav's from both parts and I will be encoding them
tonight with TMPGEnc.
