  1. Hello,

I encoded an .AVI file using Panasonic MPEG1 encoder and burned with Nero5.5+

When I put my VCD in my computer CD-ROM (or DVD ROM), it does not autoplay...do I need to set any special settings on my computer to play this VCD?

    TIA!

  2. As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."

  3. If you burned it as a vcd with Nero, then on the cd itself it created 5 folders. Use windows media player, and open the folder called 'mpegav' and double click on the only file there. It will end with a '.dat' extension (i.e., yacketyyak.dat and it will play.

  4. Windows doesn't "know" what a VCD is so not surprisingly, it isn't going to autoplay.

Apart from the options given by other people here, there are programs that you can get that run in the background and have a more extended knowledge of the types of CDs that exist, including VCDs. You can then set it up so that when a VCD is detected, a proper VCD playing program will load up (e.g., a software DVD player like PowerDVD). An example of such a program came with the battery of utilities that came with my Creative Soundblaster Live card.

There may be others. Have a look at Tucows or other software repositories.

    Regards.
