  1. Hello O wise ones.

I have had success burning VCD's with nero 5.5.8.2 and vcdeasy but lately I have had some issues. 1/2 way through my movies (my last 3) I start getting terrible blockiness and stuttering. The 1st half of the movie is perfect. Once the blockiness starts it continues through the rest of the film, usually getting progressively worse. It is more prevelant when I use vcdeasy and try to put in chapters. I have an athlon XP 1800, 384MB of DDR ram and 2- 30GB HDD in Raid 0 config. Other than memturbo, my memory monitor, I never run any other application during encoding or burning. My RAM avaliability goes from 270MB free to 60MB free in minutes during either encoding or burning but it always has, even when things were good. Am I missing a simple setting here?

The movies play flawlessly on my pc with any player all the way through. Something is happening either during the encode or during the burn. I have a plextor 12x40xa. Help, Im making coasters like crazy

  2. I sounds like a media compatibility problem...

You could try other brands of media. CD-RW often works better in these cases.

For some people with these problems, changing the burn speed can help.

  3. thanks Vitualis,
I will try to slow down my burn speed, that hurts since i spent so much on a high quality 40x burner.... I also have some new 99min CD-Rs i will try out to see if they make a difference.

  4. want to stop making caosters burn at slower speed I find 8x is perfect for VCD and SVCD's and don't grip about how long its gonna take, I have used this burn speed for over 2 years and make a perfect VCD and SVCD every time even up to 98min. 45 sec. on a 99min. CD-R. You will also find more DVD palyers will play your finished product with using this burn speed.
