  1. Hi all. Sorry for the newbie post but after an hour of searching the forums... natta.

I got a few .mpg movies from a LAN party. I used Nero 5.5.8.2 on my winXP box and burned a 700MB file to a 80 min Philips CD-R.

If I stick the burned CD-R in my PC DVD player, PowerDVD plays it wonderfully.

However, if I put it in my Philips 724 stand-alone player, I get beautiful sound but the video scrolls like I haven't set something correctly for the burning process.

I'm new to burning movies. I tried burning a VCD and SVCD with the exact same results as above.

After searching newsgroups and here... I'm clueless.

    Any info will be helpful.

    Thanks... Griminal

  2. Sound like you need to get into the setup menu on your stand alone dvd player. It might be set to play 'PAL', this is the way it plays european versioned vcd's. If that's the case, change it to "NTSC", the american version. Or, visa versa. I have a hunch this will take care of it.....

  3. Yup! That was it.

The setup was set for Multi... TV can display both PAL an NTSC.

    Set for strickly NTSC. BEAUTIFUL!

    Thanks Johnl!

Whats weird is that I didn't see a single message saying to check the DVD's setup.

(I knew it was something stupid... me!)
