I finally was able to burn a SVCD (thanks to all those that hepled, it was finally a Memorex CD-RW that worked) and it works very well except that the words lag behind the movie a little bit. Not more than a half second or so, but still very noticable. This was a conversion of a DV-->MPEG-->SVCD
In other words it was a home video so i didnt think there would be any problems. Any ideas? Thanks.

Convert what ever you have using TMPGEnc, using a VCD template, then the mpeg will be correct for programs like Nero to burn it.
