I d/led filters for virtualdub but I can't figure out how to run an .avi through those filters without having to completely uncompress the movie which creates a HUGE .avi. Any help would be appreciated!

Well, to check out the effects you've added, press F5 and watch the effect as the movie plays, Otherwise - use DivX as comression with the same bitrate as the target VCD/SVCD as you intend for youre final disk..
The "Compression" part I'm not sure of, but you might wanna split the movie and use only a little part of it for picturequality checks.. -
are you intending to keep it as an avi? or do you plan to encode it to vcd/svcd? if your doing the latter, i suggest you frameserve it to your encoder, that will save you from having to save it uncompressed.

load your file in vd then apply filters then select frame rate to make sure audio syncs then select compression select divx or mp4 if you have them set bit rate around 3500 and resave your avi a 2 hour movie will be about 2gig then load that avi in your encoding program.

If you are aiming for VCD/SVCD/DVD, do not save a lossy compressed avi (DivX is one of the worst solutions if you want to keep quality). Save it uncompressed, lossless compressed or frameserve.

Thank you for the replies...some of them help. Sorry for not being exactly clear...
What I was wondering is how to directly frameserve to TMP (So far I have tried renaming the .vdr to .avi and installing 3.1 alpha/4.12 Vdub codecs, and everything in the tools section on VDub and it still says the files won't open or is unsupported) and what is the best compression to use in TMP? I know how to sync the video and the sound but I don't know which is the best quality with relation to compression. What would be the best way to compress the .avi without losing too much quality?
Also, Truman when I try to save the file uncompressed it comes out as a 65G file. I don't know about you but I don't have that much memory to spare. What type of compression would be good to retain quality in a temporary file, until I can compress it into a VCD using TMP. This is the only option I can see available since I can't frameserve.
