  1. I recently started using DVD2SVCD and found some '1-pass' settings that seem to give very good results, and save alot of time. I was curious how much of a difference more passes makes, so I did a test chapter using 1-pass, 3-pass and 5-pass, and to be honest, I did not see one bit of difference. I am wondering if multiple passes really only make a noticable difference in low-bitrate situations? In other words, since I only did a 2-minute clip, it was done at a very high bitrate each time, so there was little room for improvement. But if I do, say, 75 minutes onto 1 cd, that would be done at a low bitrate, and the difference in passes would be VERY noticable. But I'm just guessing. Is this correct? Oh this is using the CCE encoder.

That is correct. This reasoning is also a good example of why short clips are a poor method of comparing various VBR encoding methods, since there is insufficient video for varying bitrate allocation to really have any impact.
