I just purchased some VCD titles online and was appalled at the quality. If this is (as stated) on more than one place....same or better than VHS quality, then I won't ever go back to VHS. Thank goodness for DVD's , because the VCD i purchased, titles like Poltergiest, Stephen King's IT, and Jungle 2 Jungle were pathetic. The only reason I purchased the titles I did was because they probably won't ever come out on DVD, or for a pretty long time.
BTW..... I have been waiting for the Batman '66 tv series to come out on DVD, I'll probably see it in 2075, if I'm lucky. thanks and input would be apprecaited as to the quality (or lack thereof) of VCD's.
Does burning software such as Nero Or VOBS Instant CD/DVD come out looking this bad? Please let me know?.

  2. "Bought" VCDs are often made by pirates and the source can often be someone taking a camcorder into a cinema. These VCDs have undeniably horrid quality.

If you make your own VCDs (e.g., for a DVD source) and use a good quality encoder (e.g., Panasonic or TMPGEnc), the quality will easier be on average on par with VHS. The audio quality will be near CD quality.
