Okay maybe someone can help me out with my problem. I will start off with system specs
    p4 1.8a
    256 pc2100
    80gig maxtor hard drive
    ati aiw 8500dv
using mmc 7.7 to capture in real time

Here is what is happening(only has happened three times so far) and it only has happened from shows recorded off showtime. It has happened twice so far to the show jeremiah and once for odyssey 5. The captures roughly 45minutes have a size of only 550-650mb(most others are right around 780mb).

I use womble mpeg2vcr to edit them(just cutting off the beginig and end) and save the editied clip as svcd. Womble say's the files should be something like 810mb or so but the outputted file is in the range listed about. Just to note when I do other shows it say's they should be roughly 810mb also but they normaly range between 775-795 in size.

The problem is after they are edited nero does not accept them as svcd compliant and I am not sure why. It just says invalid video stream. The only thing I can think of is that mmc7.7 did such a good job on the variable bit rate it may somehow be to small. Aslo something that I noticed is that even though the file is 43-45minutes it say's when played that its like 25-30minutes in length, when it gets to the said end it just keeps playing. I can turn off the compliance and the dvd player will say its 25-30minutes in lenght but the svcd will play without a problem for the full length.

    Any suggestions would be helpful.

    Thanks
    Ryan

okay I may need to add some information

first off all my files, drivers, etc are up to date.

second this only happens on two shows both of which air on showtime. Also both of these shows the end file size is 100+mb smaller than most of my other svcd's.

lastly I have made over 100 svcd's since may and have only had problems with these two shows. Not really important to this post but I have also done well over 1000 vcd's over the last two years.

Someone please let me know what is happening or even if you have experienced a problem like this. I am thinking that showtime is adding or has some unusual compression of theiir own but I am not sure if that would casue a problem or not. All I know is that I set the bitrate to 2.25mb and I don't think the average is even 2.0mb, maybe that is the problem, who knows for sure.

    thanks
    everyone
