Hello all. Great forum here, hope y'all can help me out. I have an ATI TV Wonder video Capture card. I've used it for a couple of years with no problems at all. I recently got a new 'puter, and installed Windows XP (was running win 98). The problem now is that my computer is not recognizing my Cap card as even being installed into my system. Also, the original installation CD won't run. Like I said, I'm running Windows XP, and have installed the ATI- tv wONDER CAPTURE CARD. I have an ATI Radeon 7000 video card (in case that's important for you to know). My job relies on me doing some vid caps, so PLEASE help me out on this as soon as possible. Thanks! -oldhiway-

Well, just in case you haven't already done so, go to
http://www.ati.com/support/driver.html
and choose Windows XP and whichever TV Wonder card you have (they are near the bottom of the list). Install that software and reboot. If it still doesn't recognize your card, it may not have Windows XP Compatible drivers yet. But on a good note, you are given the exact same software no matter which OS you choose, so I'd guess that Windows XP is in fact supported. Good luck with your card -
Hey thnx Por_Que. I got the drivers, but when I started to install I got a message saying that I needed the digital video update for DirextX 8.0. I can't find it anywhere. Looks like you may have me on the way to vid capping again....know where I can get this update? Thanks m'man!

OK, I've installed both the Windows XP drivers for my ati tv wonder cap card and the Direct X * update. Still nada....
....My vid cap program just doesn't recognize the hard ware or something. I have no idea. I have my VCR hooked into my cap card but there's no signal. Please advise. Thanks. If I need to uninstall and reinstall everything, that's cool...just tll me what to do. This is driving me up a wall.

Well, I have 3 different ones on my system: Camtasia, Sonic Foundry Video Factory and Ulead Media Studio. I prefer Video Factory, but none of them seem to be working. Thanks to All for the quick replies!!!

You may need the VfWWDM wrapper. I had the same problems as you are describing, with my software not recognizing my AIW Radeon 8500, untill I installed the wrapper, which can be found here:
VfWWDM Wrapper
You could also try the capture program called iuVCR. If your problem is unrecognized WDM drivers, using this program will allow you to avoid using the wrapper. -
Does ATI MMC recognize your card? (if you have tried it, that is)
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war." -
the wrapper won't help because videofactory is wdm based. I suggest you check your device manager under sound, video, and game controllers. You should see some ati products in there. These are your actual capture devices. Remove the ati products and reinstall the drivers, if all goes well your system will redetect it and install it for you.

Yeah, that exact same thing happened to me, I had forgotten. The drivers were showing up in the audio video and game controllers section, but the MMC tests showed that they werent installed. It took me forever to figure it out, but removing them one at a time and then rebooting had them get reinstalled and they worked.
Hope this will work for you.
