converting RM to avi/mpeg || trouble converting avi to mpeg

hi, i have 2 questions:

1) how can i convert an RM file to an avi or mpeg? it's not streaming media from the net since i have the actual file on my computer.

2) i d/led a tv series that's in avi and i'm trying to convert it to mpeg. the first 3 files converted fine. then the last 2 keeps freezing on me. (ie. when it starts to encode, it always stops at a certain point and i have to close program by end tasking it) what gives?

1. Goto tools section> other video converters...tinraGUI is freeware that will do this...also EO Video has demo (15days) that will do RM to avi/mpg

2. Goto tools section> repair/converters DivxFix fixes broken divx files...which most those avi's on net are.

i'm not sure if the divx file is corrupted. the thing is, i can watch the whole thing perfectly fine in windows media player. the problem only comes up when i'm trying to convert it?

Its probly broke...If you dont want to fix it or it cant be fixed.....the cheat is to encode around it....Note where it freezes up... set source range to stop just before that and encode (call part 1).....set source range for next encode to start just after the freeze point end go on to end of clip (call part 2).
Then rejoin your parts together (use TMPG mpeg join tool)...there will be a slight jump at the freeze point .....
Thats the only two options I know of.
