  1. I have burned vcd's on my pc before, that have played on my apex dvd player. Now when I burn a vcd using nero, They will not play.
I can clone the previously burned vcd's with clone cd and they will play.

I've followed the how to guides on this website, with no luck!
    Any help will be appreciated.

I've noticed that Nero can be picky about mpegs, so I've been using VCDEasy to make my vcd's. It uses any mpeg file then burns it for you. I also have an Apex dvd player and I haven't had a problem with VCDEasy.

Email me and let me know how it turns out! Good luck!

  3. Well now let me see. If I had some clue as to how you processed your VCD's when they DID work, and then some complete information as to your process when they did NOT work, I would analyse the two processes in an attempt to determine what EXACTLY was different. Since you have provided none of that, I can't help you.

I only use Nero...and never had any problem... with standard or non standard VCD. The only way it could be Nero is if you have changed one of the settings to somthing that is really noncompatable.

I only say this because if it is something you are doing in one program....then using a different program may work for you...but be aware of anything you change from default settings...

  5. I use TMPGEnc-2.54.37.135 to encode folling the how to guide from this website, nero to burn, also folling the how to guide. I am using the same cd-rw as before. I compared the vcd's working and non working in windoze explorer and they are identical, as far as I can tell.

All audio and mp3 cd's are fine, only the vcd's are not working.

I have the same results with vcd easy and instant vcd.

  6. If your procedure is EXACTLY the same, with same media, AND your DVD player still plays the old VCD's, Then either the media is scratched or damaged - does it say NO DISK, play jerky, or do nothing? Will the disk play in the PC? if not, can you play the file directly off the disk, or from the hard drive before burning? can you play the entire original source file? Try burning to a new disk, or try a different movie. preferably from a different source. Assuming same procedure and same media type, and player still works, and no program errors or virus, then either you have a bad disk or a bad original source file.

  7. I have had problems with the disk themself. My Apex do not like CD-WR. I can only copy 6 or 7 times before my Apex DVD stops reading them. They work fine in the PC but not a DVD.

After many nanoseconds of thought on this subject, I've come to one conclusion:

This world would be a much better place without people like nelson37.

Dude, stop being an idiot. Help the guy out! That's what these forums are for! I realize he forgot some information, but your vain attempt at witty sarcasm will not solve any problems. Besides, having the answers to someone's queries concerning mpg's and the like doesn't make you a master of the universe. Share the knowledge that you possess freely without belittling those who may not know as much as you.

As far as the playing problem goes, I used to use Nero for burning VCD/SVCD and the quality/reliability was so on-again, off-again, it was just a waste of time. So many factors have to be in place for it work perfectly. I don't think the planets are in quite the right alignment for Nero to burn VCD/SVCD's that work.

  9. I do not pretend to be the master of the universe. I spend a significant amount of time trying to help others. The numbers of people who ask questions which clearly CANNOT be answered because of insufficient information are staggering. IF by my sarcasm I clarified the need for more info, then I was successful.

Notice that the original question has had to be amplified twice already in order to narrow down the problem, which process is still going on.

As for being helpful, I'm sure your suggestions on planetary alignment will lead to some useful changes in procedure for many.

Furthermore, I can discern no belittlement whatsoever in my original reply. I did not accuse anyone of being arrogant, call them an idiot, insist they follow a particular course of action, nor did I suggest that they do not belong on this earth.

sounds weird but is either you burner or player getting on in years? On
a physical level the laser in either could be getting old and not reading/writing as well as it once was (don't we all... wait what am I saying I'm only 26!!!), or the spindle could be developing a wobble. Try burning at the lowest possible speed, it may help either of these things. Also lens cleaning disks for CD/DVD might help, WARNING I have never tried one so don't ask me how good or what damage(if any) they could cause!!! The other possibility is the CD media, the brand may stay the same but where/how it is manufactured can change.

Anyone remeber the name of the site that has the CDR/RW media info??

    Later BRETT

PS guys (and gals) quit the bitching and play nice.
