Hi: I have an older model Pioneer stand-alone DVD player. I know my player will play a DVD-R, at least if it was made using Verbatim brand blanks. I just bought a Pioneer 104 DVD burner. I bought a 10 pack sampler of cheapie DVD-R's from Meritline. I am using the Roxio Easy CD Creater software to burn the DVD's. The DVD-Rs play as DVD movies in my PC just fine. When I put them into my stand-alone player, they are recognised as DVD's, but will not play. The player just sits there trying to load.
I am not positive if the media is at fault or the Roxio software. Can the Roxio Easy CD Creater software create a DVD that will play in stand-alone player?

The fault should be the Roxio software. I couldn't get ECC to give me usable discs at all. CD-R's, fine, works every time in virtually every player. DVD-Rs, no dice.
I expect a MAJOR update from them soon, as right now I am using all the freeware and workbench-style programs...-MPB/AZ -
Update - Just FYI. I burned again using Nero and now the disk works in my stand-alone DVD player. Same movie and same DVD-R media as before. I was told that there is no difference between a data DVD and a movie DVD. Thats wrong I guess. Roxio ECC could only make a data DVD and they did not work in my stand-alone player. Nero can make a data or a movie DVD. Making a movie DVD with Nero works.
