Hi -
I need some help please. My completed SVCD's
are jumping on the screen, when viewed on my home DVD
player. If I play them on the computer then it looks
fine. It is NOT my DVD player's fault, because I can
play other SVCD's in it just fine. Here is what I am
using:
===============================================
Dazzle DVC II
CAPTURE SOFTWARE: Movie Maker 2.24
-SOURCE: Digital Cable TV
-TEMPLATE: SVCD (Custom)
-SIZE: 480x480
-TYPE: MPEG-2
-BITRATE: CBR 2600000
EDIT SOFTWARE: TMPGEnc 2.56x
-EDIT: Just cut out commercials
RE-ENCODE SOFTWARE: TMPGEnc 2.56x
-FILTERS: NONE
-Stream Type: MPEG-2
-Size: 480x480
-Ratio: 4:3
-Rate: 29.97
-Mode: CBR
-Bitrate: 2520
-Formate: NTSC
-Encode Mode: Interlace
-YUV: 4:2:0
-DC precision: 8 bits
-Motion Search: High Quality (slow)
BURNING SOFTWARE: Nero 5.5.8.2
-Template: SVCD
===============================================
Again, remember that I can take the completed SVCD and play
it on my computer just fine, It only jumps and is jerky on
my Konka 1800U DVD player (which plays all other SVCDS from
other sources just fine)
Thank you for helping me !!

Your bitrate is probably too high. Remember, the max video bitrate for video may be 2600kbits but the total bitrate (audio + video + overhead) is limited to about 2,788,800 bits per sec. Even if you are still under this limit, not all dvd players can handle bitrates this high, even though they are supposed to.
Try encoding your video at 2500kbits instead. Do a short test and see if it plays ok. -
I encode the occasional SVCD at 2375 kb max VBR with 224kb audio, 2599kb max total (a Ulead VS6 SVCD preset), never a problem.
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war." -
