I'd just like to know if it is normal that a North American DVD player does not play PAL SVCDs or if that would just be specific to some models (I got a cheap LenoxxSound DVD player, it's cheaper than the apex and plays all VCDs and NTSC SVCDs but for some reason the PAL SVCDs play for like 2-3 seconds then they stop. AHH!)

Not necessarily normal. Apex 1500 & Phlips 711 work fine playing the vcdimager PAL test disc on NTSC tv
Panasonic DMR-ES45VS, keep those discs a burnin'
