My daughter has just gotten a DV camcorder. I don't have one. Is there a way that I can copy the tapes to my computer without a camcorder? Thanks.![]()

Are you talking about the DV tapes or VHS tapes that were made from the DV camcorder?

You need a way to play the DV tapes (I assume you mean miniDV). There are decks available for this purpose (search Google with "miniDV VCR) but they are more expensive than buying a camcorder.
So, assuming you want to play the actual tapes, your best bet is to buy a camcorder. -
Perhaps your daughter could convert her DV captures to VideoCD, SVCD, DVD-R, etc? You could then watch those on your stand-alone DVD player (depending on the player, or at least you could watch them on your PC).
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."
