Hi Sefy, yesterday I followed your DVD Rip Guide to rip a dvd movie and I have a question.
http://www.vcdhelp.com/sefy/?id=ClassicalGuide.html
I had my settings identical to the ones in the image above and after I ran DVD2AVI my monitor was flickering.
So my question is : Was it because the "DeMacrovision" was not checked on the screen shot above caused the flickering on my monitor ? Should the "DeMacrovision" box be check on the above screen shot when I do a DVD rip in the future ?
Thanks.[/url]

In a word, YES! I believe the guide on this site shows the proper settings for smart ripper. The demacrovision choice should always be checked.

Sefy will respond sooner or later....
But whan I started I used the oldest version of that guide...and Macro was checked....
But for ripping purposes ....I was told a VCD will not support that version of copy protection (some say any version) so it is probly a redundent type of thing.....checking it won't hurt anything. -
susie, sorry for late reply!
As for your question, DeMacrovision should only be disabled when you are planning to playback the VOB files from your HDD, it has no effect if you are going to encode it.
DeMacrovision is for TV-Output Protection purposes, so if you are trying to play the VOB files, it will explain the trouble you are having, but if you are just frameserving and encoding, it will have no effect on quality, and actually i've had reports that enabling the DeMacrovision actually reduces quality on some movies.Email me for faster replies!
