  1. Hi!
When I try to capture with VD with a resolution of more than 240 (height), I get "thin lines like a comb". I went to the VD web site. It says there that it is a interlacing problem -->

Q: "I see a lot of thin lines in my image, like a comb."
A: "That's interlacing -- what you're seeing is two fields, taken at slightly different times, and combined together to form a single frame. You'll see it whenever you capture with a height more than 240 lines (NTSC) or 288 lines (PAL). Interlacing is not a defect in the video and cannot be "fixed" -- it's a fundamental aspect of the way video is encoded. "

Is there a way to go around as I have seen many posts about others capturing with a higher resolution.
    I will appreciate your help.
    Thanks!
    LD
PS: I capture from a Hi-8 camcorder (HUFFYUV codec )

  2. Sound like you need to apply a deinterlace filter to your capture, though I'm surprised to hear that your source is analog video, which is not interlaced.
Anyway, if you need to deinterlace, VDub comes with deinterlace filters, which you can apply when you capture and/or convert (Video --> Filters). In my case, I got the best deinterlace results from the Area Deinterlace filter, which you can download into the VDub plugin directory from http://home.bip.net/gunnart/video/ You should also try (from the same site), the Smooth Deinterlace filter, though it didn't give me as good results as the area filter.

Good info about deinterlacing, at www.100fps.com
