  1. When I watch my DV using my Sony PC9's small screen, I can see the date/time information shown on the bottom left hand corner. However once I have uploaded the file using 1394 into my PC (using Editstudio 3), I have only got the movie itself but not the date/time. While sometimes it would be good to have a clean movie, sometimes it would be handy if the date/time is shown in the VCD I finally converted it into. Any one know whether it is possible to get this bit of information in the avi file I captured?

    Thanks a lot in advance.

    Regards,

  2. Perhaps the time is not encoded as a normal video but as additional information in some computer code. Why not make a blue screen on the computer insert with text a date and record it visually with your tape or import it as a picture to the AVI on your computer.
Don't want a bluescreen? Play the AVI on the computer and do a screen capture to get a picture then write the date or text on it. You would need a Photo editing program and some freeware to do movie still captures.

  3. Videomann,

Thanks for your reply. Actually what I am doing right now (while I don't know how to capture the date/time information in the DV) is to add in a text string about the date and event on the bottom of the clip for say 30 seconds. This works fine when each clip (session) is relatively long. However, now I start to have many very short clips (I took movie of my baby girl relatively frequent but now each clip is shorter), so it will be handy if I don't really need add in the text as a special effect.

That forms the background of my question. Appreciate if there are more suggestions.

    Thanks a lot.
