Hi everybody!
I downloaded some Daitarn3 episodes from WinMX... it's an old robot anime I really enjoied when I was a kid!
I'd like to convert it to VCD, but it seems to be difficult!
While WindowsMediaPlayer opens and plays it well (with just some interlace artifacts during fast moving scenes...), every other program (such as VirtualDub or TMPGEnc) sees something weird/unusable!!!
Here's what I see in Windows98 with installed DivX Low-Motion if I play the movie in WindowsMediaPlayer6.4:

I see something similar playing the movie in WindowsXP with DivX 5.02 codec installed... just some more artifacts on the right of the screen...
Here's what I see with VirtualDub or TMPGEnc under Windows98 with the DivX Low-Motion codec:

Here's what I see with VirtualDub or TMPGEnc under WindowsXP with DivX 5.02 codec:

Any ideas to help me converting this movie to VCD???
Thank you very much to everybody!!!

Interesting problem ant I'll be watching this thread.
My only thought on converting is to use GraphEdit to convert the file to another AVI file, uncompressed. See the WMV to AVI guide for a technique.
Also in TMPGEnc which VFAPI plug in is getting used for AVI files? Try changing the one in use (by default Open DML is not selected, try increasing it's priority. -
What's all this, this codec installed and that codec installed ?
You have to have the "Right" codec installed for the the AVI to be decompressed properly.
I would start by finding out exactly what that codec is, load the AVI into Vdub and select file > file properties, this will show you the correct one.
Don't rely on other codec's to play it back correctly, if the right one is installed it will be used. -
to cmacleo... I'll look for that solution! If it corrects my problem, I'll post it!
to KingJohn... I ALWAYS do that, but I discovered that VDub shows you the DivX version it uses to decode the video, not the one that encoded it!!! On WindowsXP it shows me DivX5.02, on Windows98 it shows me DivX3.11 Low Motion... which one is the encoder???

Which ones do you have installed
Well I can see what might be happening, where the missing codec is being replaced by something else.
At a guess I would say that dam DivX 5 is causing the problem. However if you install the Nimo codec pack you will definitely have the correct one. -
Not too difficult, "From Internet&DV to VCD" will be your good assistnat
) You can download it from the F389ree Download A2rea of www.j23u3m34mp39a.com

So I will not use this software!
But, alas, I'm at starting point!!!
Anyone can help me???
KingJohn? Anyone else?
Bye bye... -
Nimo Codec Pack didn't provide any solution!
The cure has been worse than the problem... now VirtualDub and TMPGEnc can't visualize anything! VirtualDub crashes too!!!
Other ideas are welcome! -
Three video files that looks weird aren't a good reason to stop using the best Microsoft OS!!! I'll be using XP for a long time!!!
Can it be something related to the Matrox G400??? -
