OK, this is the problem. I am trying to capture VHS and then encode to SVCD to archive all my Seinfeld tapes. The video comes out looking great, but the captured audio keeps messing up.

It's fine for around 2.5 mins then goes kind of echo-ey and crackling for 30 secs, then corrects itself and is fine for roughly 2.5 mins, and this continues for the rest of the capture.

I have tried just about all the different settings possible, with no success. It seems to me that the 30-odd secs of bad audio is it trying to catch up to the video. Any idea if this is right?

The only solution i can think of is to buy a new soundcard, something like a Soundblaster Live, because at the moment i only have the sound on my motherboard.

Can anyone help me with this problem? It's driving me insane.

Hey man, I have the same problem sometimes-what are you capturing the audio at? I have dropped down to 8-bit, 44.1 kHz stereo and I don't think that I have had the problem again....but time will tell...

I had to go down to 8-bit 44.1 Khz stereo, just to remove crackling that ran for the entire capture. But after around 3 mins i get 30 secs of bad audio that kind of echos and cracks, it then seems to correct itself. But the process just continues for the whole capture.

The only thing i can figure is that it's my crappy soundcard on my motherboard.
