  1. Can any body help with some screen sizes with tmpgenc?.The file i have downloaded seem to come down in widescreen mode which i am assuming is ntsc and as i live in the uk this just gives me a thick black line at the top and bottom. When i encode the files although the screen does fill better i get a thin black line on the left and right. Is there a setting i can change to fill a screen completely in the uk?.

What format is your source, and what are you encoding to?

I have had this problem also. I have started to opt for making SVCDs now and I do not get these bars.

I resize the image as if the output resolution were to be 720x576. I use Virtualdub (bicupic setting) to do this, then frameserve it to TMPEG and set the resolution there as for the output MPEG to 480x576.

This sorts out the bars and it looks fine. I think this might mean then that the image is being enlarged then shrunk befvore ncoding but the quality doesn't appear to diminish in any way.

Maybe you could try enlarging your MPEG to the next resolution up from the one you are encoding to in Virtualdub. This might work for VCDs also?

If anyone knows if this is a bad way to do things then let me know. It does look good though.
