  1. Even before trying to record a dvd, but watching it thru the VCR (DVD player connected to VCR, connected to TV) I noticed that the picture on the screen was "blinking" time after time, with certain frecuency (obviosly protection on the DVD disc).
Is there a way to isolate this protection and make a copy on VHS tape without this "special effect"?
    Thank you.

  2. This depends on your DVD player. With some players, it's possible to switch off Macrovision (that's the name of the copy protection) by entering a code with your remote control or by changing the firmware of the player. Check the DVD player's compatibilty list on this site for comments about removing Macrovision on your player.

If this isn't possible with your player, you need to get a hardware Macrovision remover, which is a box that you plug between your DVD player and your VCR. This is what I'm doing because there's no way of switching Macrovision off on my player. Just make sure that you get a Macrovision remover that explicitly states that it works for DVD, since some older devices only work for VCR to VCR copies.

  3. Thank you for the reply.
I guess I should have mentioned in the original post the model of my player. It is Oritron 100, and I did look at the list of the players here, and I found the model I have there, and I did what it asked to switch the region codes off, but the player still showing the same "effect", now I think maybe the hacks given there r for the region codes, and not for the macrovision hacking. It is kinda confusing for me, because on the top of the hack instructions it sais "Region code or Macrovision hack", and it make it sound as if it is the same thing, but aperently it is not, and I probably turned off the region codes, but not the macrovision.
    Please help.
    Thank you.

  4. With my panasonic, I just turn the VCD off and it goes away. You should be able to have the VCR off and still send the signal through.

  5. ... only that turning off the VCR will not allow kesha to make a copy on VHS tape.

It seems to me that the only solution in this case is to get a hardware macrovision remover.
