  3. Try this:

Hold Shift and right-click the .dat file in your MPEGAV folder. Then choose "Open With..."

    Select C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\mplayer2.exe

Now the file will play in WMP 6.4, and it should work, since it works for me when I do that. Hope this works for you

    Again,
    Same problem here.
VCD plays OK on Windows 98, but does not play on XP
Can't even copy the avseq01.dat file from CD to hard disk. Got an error message when trying to copy the file.
    Help, please.

  6. if you can't copy it off the CD, I'd gues that the CD has become corrupted or scrateched. Try cleaning it off really well. If that doesnt work, your data is likely corrupted (that's pretty much the only reason you'd get an error trying to copy off it). There isn't much you can do about it besides redownload or remake the VCD, sorry to say...

I am afraid to say you are wrong.
    The CD is not corrupted.
It plays OK on computers running Win98.
Problem here is how NERO burns VideoCD, together with issues from Windows XP .
I placed a VCD that was burned by a friend some months ago, on the same computer running Windows XP, and it plays OK.
If I simply copy my AVSEQ01.DAT on another CD, using Nero, but without going into VideoCD compilation, I can play this DAT file using Windows Media Player, on Windows XP.
