  3. i need to find an older version. they removed support for it because microsoft owns the patents for it, and the had to take it out to avoid issues.

  4. Just look around, I have the new and old versions, I got the old one later, so if you look around you should be able to find it. I'm not positive I remember where I got it from though. Try ZDNet or sumthing.

This is not a hack just an old version (1.3c) and the last to suport the asf before the Gates army crackdown.

    Or better still

Or even use the New TMPGEnc, it eats ASF movies 8)

  7. TMPGEnc has always supported asf-movies (using its DirectShow filter) as far as I know.

In my experience, the main problem with converting asf-files is that TMPGEnc has problems with reading the sound of the asf-file and will hang. The solution that works for me is to first extract the soundtrack of the asf-file to a wav-file, using dbPowerAmp (http://www.dbpoweramp.com/). Then it's possible to use the asf-file as video source and the wav-file as sound source in TMPGEnc, and all problems should be gone.

  9. Under "Option > Environmental Setting > VFAPI Plug-in" give the highest priority to the "DirectShow Multimedia File Reader".

What does it say ? or if there is a black screen then see above post, if not, you need to install the Nimo codec pack.
