  1. Is there anyway I can convert like a 650MB AVI file to an Mpeg around the same size so I can keep it on one disc. Or make it into a SVCD (doesnt make a difference)...Just as long as I can keep the VCD or SVCD to one disc.

  2. Sure,

As long as the length of the movie is under 80 minutes, it will fit on one CD in VCD. Movies up to 99 minutes can be done with a burner that has good overburning.

  4. Someone pleas correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't MPEG compression make your file size smaller compared to AVI format?

  6. Divx files typically encode to bigger files in MPEG1/VCD. You can make a nonstandard VCD (xVCD) with lower bitrates or make a 2 disc movie.
Panasonic DMR-ES45VS, keep those discs a burnin'

  7. With VCD's the movie total time is the limit NOT so much the file size.

    NO !

No if you still want to watch it... The DivX AVI will typically be half the size of a mpeg1 mpeg2
