  1. I use Sony DV cam directly connected to Sony satelite receiver record to film then
download to harddrive via firewire. Use wndos movie maker on XP system to create avi file. Excellent quality avi file
huge but good. Then I encode with TMPGEnc quality starts out good but
the audio gets out of sync towards the end. The larger the file the more out of sync it gets. Is there a way to fix this other
than making a bunch of small files encoding and splicing back together. I'm
new at this so apologies if this is a dumb question. Tried searching on audio sync
but too many hits to sort through. ANY advice appreciated.

  2. Try unchecking "detect scene change" in TMPGenc.

  6. Maybe a little better but the audio is still
slightly ahead of the video 1 hour into the movie. Goin to try seperating the audio from the avi file with virtualDub and then remixing with TMPGEnc

I had the same problem and never found a solution.
I use DVD2SVCD now, no problems any more.
I don't know if this helps since you're captering from camera.
